Adobo Run After Dark

I joined this race even if I’m not a big fan of night runs.

I thought I was set to do a 10k event but I only got a 5k race kit. Good for me since I have not been regularly training.

I’m just glad the experience turned out to be good.

Special thanks to Jay Em of Paul Calvin’s Deli.

CATastrophe

I went to our home in San Juan for my mother’s birthday.

Look what a big black cat did to my leg? The cat attacked my leg unprovoked.

It became defensive because it just gave birth to some kittens.

I had to drive myself to the ER for some shots. Worse, I can’t workout pr train for at least 3 days. That includes running of course.

Talk about bad luck.

Corregidor Int’l Half-Marathon is a GO!

CIHM Not Cancelled – Official Statement from the Event Organizers

Dear Participants and Fellow Runners,

Word has reached us that there is rumor going around alleging that the Corregidor International Half-Marathon is cancelled. We, the organizers, are categorically debunking that rumor. And being such, it is untrue, baseless, and unfounded. We have a committment to our sponsors, event partners, and, most of all, to our fellow runners and race participants. Corregidor International Half-Marathon will not and will never be cancelled. It will push through, as scheduled, on December 19, 2010 and so are all the slated pre-race events. As a matter of fact, the production of the CIHM race shirts, CIHM race backpacks, and Finisher’s Medals are underway. Furthermore, the performing band for the Victory Party Solidarity Night on December 19 has been finalized. They will certainly thrill the participants who will be at the after-race party.

We would like to take this opportunity, as well, to express our gratitude to all friends, partners, sponsors, and fellow runners for the unwavering support and trust they have given to CIHM. We believe that with our synergystic efforts and goals, we will make the first CIHM event very successful.

Thank you very much!

Bee Healthy

Here’s the buzz on bee-ing healthy without the sting on the budget.

Last weekend, we took a short trip to Ilog Maria Honeybee Farm in Silang, Cavite (near Tagaytay).

Too bad the trip was impromptu. The farm usually sets up its Bee Museum for tourists.

Nonetheless, the visit was worth the effort.

Hive

Glass covered hive box.

Close up

Busy bees. Close up of hive box with a reflection of Ilog Maria’s Bee Museum

Hole in the Hive

Hole in the Hive. Worker bees gather and collect pollen from the flowers in the farm and enter this tiny hole to process honey-making.

Boxes

All boxed up. Yogi, Boo boo and Winnie would go gaga over the loot in these boxes. The bees won’t take that lightly though.

In the 2008 race, we had to jump over pickup trucks lined on the road. Among the other obstacles were hurdles, long beams, the low crawl and the dreaded…

Wall. Runners always talk about “the wall.” In the case of the MH Urbanathlon, runners hit the wall literally. Participants have to scale an eight foot wall towards the latter portion of the race.
