GMA-7 Tatakbo Ka Ba? Fun Run (Post Race Report)
Elapsed Time : 52:21 (A new 10k PR! Woohoo!)
Ups
- Vitwater was given to runners in water stations.
- Good cause. The 2010 Presidential Elections should be a big deal. People should be aware and get involved.
- Star-studded race.
- Race route was flat.
Downs
- Crowded starting/finish line. The 5k and 10k runners were released at the same time.
- No digital timer at start/finish line. No timing chip.
- Few marshals directing runners where to turn. Route had too many turns.
- Few water stations. Inadequate water supply.
- Lack of distance markers.
- No singlet but there was a finishers shirt.
After the race the GMA-7 execs, Election partners, News and Public Affairs group, Kapuso Stars and 2010 Presidential/Vice-Presidential Hopefuls had a 100m Unity Walk for HOPE: an Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Elections. The Hopefuls were introduced and were made to take and sign an oath to that effect. This event is perhaps the first time the Hopefuls were gathered in one big activity before they cross swords in the 2010 Presidential race.
There are some who may think that the exercise of swearing and promising on national television that the Hopefuls shall not cheat and/or engage in dirty politics is futile. After witnessing the event however, it gave me the impression that at least we Filipinos can hold on to something. A promise is still a promise.

Madame. Had to be invisible so I wouldn’t distract her while she takes charge of the program proper.
With amazing and famous Yakkers friends, Maey and Betong. Thanks for the cheers!
Mariz Umali and Josh Villanueva. They ran the 5k with Josh hauling his SLR camera and tweeting along the way!
From http://www.gmanews.tv:
Before they took their oaths, the presidential and vice presidential hopefuls wrote messages on a “Unity Wall.” Here’s what they wrote:
Binay: Ipagmalaki mo ikaw ay Pilipino
Delos Reyes: For hope and a new beginning
Escudero: Para sa kabataang Pilipino
Estrada: Walang tutulong sa Pilipino kundi kapwa Pilipino
Fernando: Let’s get it done
Gordon: For a change in me.
Madrigal: For God and country
Pangilinan: Rock the Vote!
Perlas: Tayong lahat ang magbabago ng Pilipinas
Roxas: Para sa bansa
Villanueva: Ang tunay na pagbabago
Villar: Para sa malinis na halalan
GMA-7 Tatakbo Ka Ba? Eleksyon 2010 Run (Update)
Why Tricycles Should Be Banned From Streets (5 Reasons)
1. Their drivers drive like drunk flies.
2. They make so much noise.
3. Their terminals are obstructions on sidewalks and roads.
4. They don’t care about traffic rules and regulations. In fact, they disregard one ways, no left/right turns, etc.
5. They’re simply a nuisance that has to be eliminated. Pests that have to be exterminated.

Kenny Urbanite Run
It was the first night run event that I have joined. And I didn’t exactly get the best time for a familiar 15K race route. It was also the first time for me to race with my Nike Lunar Glide. This event however is the second time Finishline used their disposable timing chip.
The week before the race, work was murder so I wasn’t able to pick up my race pack. I got to the venue a few hours before the gun start so I could claim my race bib and timing device. Saw a lot of friends before, raring to pound the pavement under the night sky.
I started quite strong on the first 5 kilometers but after a while I felt my right foot’s toes aching. It felt like I blisters were forming at the tip of my toes. That’s the time I began to think that it was a mistake for me to wear the Glides. I even remember calling E for her to bring my Newtons. So much for a new 15k PR. As I had to walk several times just to ease the pain I finished in 1:40.
After the race, I went out with some friends in the Fort Strip area. When we left the parking area, I told the parking attendant that they had not given me a ticket. I had to pay a P230 penalty just to get out without a fuss. As I was too tired to argue, I reluctantly paid the fee.

JamBeads anyone?
Found this in a local twitter link. The beads were said to have been distributed during the Cory funeral.
You can even type jamby madrigal, cory funeral in your google (or any search engine) and it pops out.
Thanks to the Honorable Senator Maria Ana Consuelo “JAMBY” Madrigal-Valade.
25 Times Street
I just had to do this. Run in the rain to 25 Times Street to pay my respects to former President Aquino. While her funeral cortege is traversing the SLEX to Manila Memorial Park, I went around the South Triangle Area in Quezon City to the Aquino residence.
Yellow Ribbon
Filipinos offering candles, flowers and prayers.
The Residence
I just had to have my photo taken in front of the house.
More photos in my multiply site.
Oh, and I wore yellow shoes. 🙂

A macro photo set for the former president. President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino. Symbol of democracy. Icon of peace, justice and liberty.
Yellow ribbon.
The Philippine Flag.
The Presidential Seal.
For reference.
Close Up
Got myself a set of stacking extension tubes for macro photography.
A macro extension tube is attached to the DSLR camera body in between the lens so you can get as close to a subject as possible. Without it, the camera will not be able to focus properly unless the shooter moves further away.
It’s the generic, metal kind so i lose the autofocus function when I shoot. Here’s what I got so far. I still have to practice a little more with it.
